Situated on the shores of Lake Washington in Renton, WA, the Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) stands as the new home for the Seattle Seahawks. This 19-acre property, once a coal tar refinery and creosote plant, underwent remediation in collaboration with the City of Renton and the Washington State Department of Ecology. This transformative project not only revitalized the site but also enhanced Renton’s environmental climate and wetlands.
Now, the property hosts three outdoor natural grass practice fields, a maintenance building, and a 200,000 square-foot office building. Within the three-story L-shaped building, there is a full-size indoor turf practice field featuring regulation end zones, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, and top-notch training equipment and amenities for players. This building serves as the front office headquarters for the team’s various departments, administrators, and faculty. Moreover, it accommodates the corporate sponsorships and Fan Development offices, previously situated at CenturyLink Field. Notably, this new facility surpasses the size of the former Kirkland, WA facility by four times.
