The Fashion Square Redevelopment projects included four ground-up buildings and selective demolition alongside improvements to an existing parking garage structure. The buildings were intended for future retail/restaurant use and were built as a warm gray shell. All four buildings were composed of concrete and steel structures, varying between one, two and four levels. They were constructed adjacent to existing, open-to-the-public and operational mall structures. Two of the buildings were built above an existing two-level parking garage, also under continuous operation. Foundations for the structures included caissons and micropiles. In order to make room for one of the buildings, the selective demolition of an existing 4-level parking garage and resulting improvements on the remaining portion of garage, including an elevator/stair tower, was required. In addition, the construction of two of the buildings required the use of a tower crane due to the limited site size and mall operations. Micropiles were drilled inside of an underground parking garage to support the podium decks above.
